Don and Donna Johnson are a husband-wife team of nature photographers who live in and work out of the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia.
Donna, who has been a teacher for most of her adult life, moving upward through the public school system from elementary through university levels. During those years, photography was a primary tool for use in bringing meaningful and comprehensive instruction to students in a multitude of subjects.
Don was introduced to photography while in elementary school thanks to the gift of a German 35mm camera found on a World War II battlefield by a family friend. He has been a “professional” photographer since graduating from the U.S. Navy’s Journalist “A” School and being shipped to Oahu, Hawaii, in the late 1950s. He is a former daily newspaper photojournalist and a retired corporate communication manager for an 11 state electric utility system.
After their marriage, they found their love of nature, travel and photography a natural activity for enjoying all three.
